Un cambio importante que se ha introducido es una nueva ley que dice lo siguiente:<\/p>\n<p>\u00a7 71-3-7 En todas las reclamaciones en las que no se hayan pagado prestaciones, incluidas las prestaciones por discapacidad, fallecimiento y m\u00e9dicas, el solicitante deber\u00e1 presentar los expedientes m\u00e9dicos que respalden su solicitud de prestaciones al presentar una petici\u00f3n de impugnaci\u00f3n. Si el reclamante no puede presentar los registros m\u00e9dicos que respalden su reclamaci\u00f3n de prestaciones en el momento de presentar la petici\u00f3n de impugnaci\u00f3n debido a una limitaci\u00f3n de tiempo establecida por la secci\u00f3n 71-3-35 o la secci\u00f3n 71-3-53, el reclamante deber\u00e1 presentar los registros m\u00e9dicos que respalden su reclamaci\u00f3n en un plazo de sesenta (60) d\u00edas a partir de la presentaci\u00f3n de la petici\u00f3n de impugnaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>Antes de esta ley, cualquiera pod\u00eda acudir a los tribunales para reclamar una indemnizaci\u00f3n por accidente laboral. Ahora, o bien hay que esperar y rezar para que la compa\u00f1\u00eda de seguros haga lo correcto y acepte la reclamaci\u00f3n, o bien hay que pagar por los expedientes m\u00e9dicos y encontrar un m\u00e9dico dispuesto a afirmar que los s\u00edntomas se deben a un accidente laboral.  A menudo esto resulta dif\u00edcil al principio, porque al inicio del proceso no se dispone de suficiente informaci\u00f3n sobre la lesi\u00f3n y, a menos que puedas pagar tu propio tratamiento, no puedes obtener lo que necesitas para demostrar que la lesi\u00f3n est\u00e1 relacionada con el trabajo. Se trata de una especie de problema del huevo y la gallina que impedir\u00e1 que un nuevo grupo de personas que no pueden pagar su propio m\u00e9dico tenga acceso al sistema judicial.<\/p>\n<p>Es lamentable que nuestros legisladores hayan considerado oportuno aprobar una ley como esta, y esperamos que en el futuro se cuestione su constitucionalidad.
